FAQ

What exactly is the current status of the LCS?

The Language Creation Society is incorporated in the state of California as a non-profit. We are still finalizing our plea to the tax gods to deem us worthy of the "official" non-profit status, i.e. tax exemption, and hope to hear back on that by April or so.

We are also affiliated with, though technically completely separate from, the Language Creation Society UC Berkeley student group (UCB-LCS), which is formally a subsidiary of the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC). The ASUC is a tax-exempt non-profit association.

Can I join?

Yes!

... but not just yet. We'd like to have our tax-exempt status confirmed first, because this affects various financial issues and is just a lot less messy than it is in our current transitional status.
